Rooted in Manitoba
Powerland is owned by Manitobans and employs
over 80 Manitobans. We understand that the business decisions that
we make affect our employees and their families as well as all of
the other Manitoba’s with whom they rub shoulders. Building
a strong business in Manitoba ensures a future for Manitoba employees
in the IT sector. Two outcomes of Powerland having been rooted in
Manitoba for over 17 years are our “Work Experience Hosting
Program,” and our “Technology Company Incubator Program.”
Realized in the Community
Powerland achieves it’s potential
through the strong community of it’s employees. Many of our
employees grew up in Manitoba and received their first jobs at Powerland.
When people arrive at Powerland they are assigned a Mentor and are
placed into a workgroup. Powerland encourages group building. Effectiveness
and efficiency are created by groups that work well together. Community
outcomes from our group building are “Workforce Integration
for New Canadians (Refugees)”, First Jobs for Manitoba Technicians”,
and “Wilderness Edge Retreat and Conference Center”.
Reaching Out in Manitoba
Powerland and it’s emplyees are involved
in making Manitoba a better place to live. Manitoba is our home
and we work to preserve and enhance it. Our employees naturally
are involved in the community. Following is a sample of Powerland
activities that grow out for our respect for, and dedication to
Manitoba. Powerland reaches out to Manitoba through it’s involvement
with the Thomas Sill Foundation, through the Powerland/HRDC Youth-At-Risk
Program, through providing educational scholarships, and through
encouraging political participation.
Responding to our World
Growing out of our history, ethnic diversity
and our sense of community, Powerland responds to world needs and
events. Every year employees and the company are involved in charitable
activities that benefit people from countries in need. Powerland
also makes space for on-the-job ESL training and participates in
Worker Exchange programs through a global charity.
